How to Write Service Pages That Rank and Convert

Content & Copywriting2 min readBy the Monopage team

A service page is a page dedicated to one thing you offer. It is often the page a customer lands on from search, so it needs to be both findable and persuasive. A single "Services" page listing everything in a few lines rarely does either job well.

One page per main service

Give each core service its own page. This lets you target specific searches, such as "boiler installation" rather than a vague "heating services," and provide the depth customers expect. Plan these in your sitemap.

Start with a clear headline

State the service and who it is for or where it is available. For example, "Boiler Installation for Homes in Leeds." Match the heading to what searchers type, based on keyword research.

Explain what the service is

Describe what is included, who it suits, and what outcome customers can expect. Do not assume knowledge. Use plain language.

Outline your process

Visitors feel more confident when they know what happens next. Show three to five steps from enquiry to completion, with realistic timeframes.

Address price honestly

You may not be able to publish exact prices, but you can explain what affects them, give ranges or "from" prices, or describe how quotes work. Openness builds trust and filters unsuitable enquiries. See pricing page best practices.

Answer common questions

Include a short FAQ with the real questions customers ask, such as cost, duration, guarantees, and preparation. Read more in FAQ pages and SEO.

Add proof

Show relevant testimonials, case studies, photos of completed work, accreditations, and guarantees. See social proof.

Include a clear call to action

Put a prominent button near the top and again at the bottom. Make it specific: "Get a boiler quote." Learn more in writing calls to action.

Optimize the basics

Write a unique title tag and meta description, use clear headings, add descriptive image alt text, and link to related services and articles. See internal linking.

Avoid duplicate content

Do not copy the same text across several service pages with a few words changed. Each page should stand alone and offer real value.

For local businesses

Mention the areas you serve naturally, and include contact details. See local SEO.

The bottom line

A strong service page answers what, how, how much, and why you, then makes the next step simple. Build one for each key service.
